Jean-Frédéric Neuburger

Langue disponible : anglais
Pianist Jean-Frédéric Neuburger has a large repertory extending from Bach to composers of the present day. He is also noted as an organist and composer. Neuburger was born in Paris on December 29, 1986. He took up the piano at age eight, studying in Saint-Jean-de-Luz in southwestern France at the Académie Maurice Ravel. Soon after that, he also began lessons in organ and composition; throughout his educational career, he emphasized studies in all three fields. Neuburger matriculated at the Conservatoire de Paris in 2000, studying piano, accompaniment, improvisation, organ, and chamber music and receiving the highest honors in all these fields. Prizes in the early 2000s decade boosted his career, including first prize at the 2002 Ettlingen International Competition for Young Pianists, second prize at the London International Piano Competition in 2005, and several prizes at the 2006 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, one of which brought debuts at Zankel Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Neuburger has gone on to perform as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra, among other top-tier groups. In 2014, he was featured in a Jean-Frédéric Neuburger and Friends seven-concert series at the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris. His compositions have been performed by the Boston Symphony, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the Israel Philharmonic. They are not restricted to keyboard music; his Cantate Profane, for mixed choir and 14 musicians, sets poetry by Aimé Césaire. Neuburger has given the world premieres of several works, including Christian Lauba's Alberti. Neuburger has made more than ten recordings, many of them for the Mirare label. Among them is one of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Mantra, on which he joined pianist Jean-François Heisser and electronic musician Serge Lemouton in 2021. Neuburger has been on the faculty of the Conservatoire de Paris since 2009, teaching courses in accompaniment.
