Cyrielle Ndjiki Nya

Cyrielle Ndjiki Nya, also known as Cyrielle Ndjiki, is a soprano who has performed in several major productions while still a student in Paris. She released her debut album, Muses éternelles, in 2022. Nya was born in Creil in northern France in 1990. She started the piano early and studied the piano for seven years. At the Sorbonne in Paris, Nya earned a master's degree in "médiation culturelle," a French discipline that involves the connection of participants to artistic works, often with the aim of cultural democratization. Then, however, she became interested in a performing career. She took voice lessons from Claudine Le Coz and then enrolled at the Conservatoire de Paris (the CNSM) in the class of Chantal Mathis. She earned her second master's degree there with unanimous honors. Nya took master classes from Barbara Bonney, Felicity Palmer, and Karine Deshayes. Nya's studies were supported by the Tarrapi Foundation, the Fondation de France Dauphin de Verra, the Meyer Foundation, and the Krigelstein Fund. At the Marmande International Competition in August of 2020, she won the Grand Prize and the Public Prize. Nya has appeared in productions of Strauss' Elektra and Wagner's Die Walküre (as Ortlinde) at the Opéra National de Bordeaux. She joined the studio of director David Stern at France's Opera Fuoco, performing there under Stern's direction in productions of Mozart's Idomeneo, K. 366, and Le nozze di Figaro, K. 492. She has also appeared at the Opéra National de Montpellier in Verdi's Aida. In September of 2020, Nya enrolled at the Jaroussky Academy for young singers. There, she recorded her first album, Muses éternelles, with accompanist Kaoli Ono, featuring songs by Rachmaninov, Ravel, and Jake Heggie, among others. The album was released under the name Cyrielle Ndjiki in 2022 on the Mirare label.
