The Lucky 13s
Hailing from the south of England, the Lucky 13s play their own brand of soul-infused pop, which draws on funk, blues, and R&B. Debuting in 2020 with the EP Breathe, the group issued their debut album, Gamble My Soul, in 2022.
Formed in 2019 by guitarist and songwriter Dudley Ross and former The Voice UK contestant Jamie Johnson, the pair fleshed out the band with bass, drums, and a horn section. Inspired by the classic soul of Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, Ross paired his soulful songwriting with Johnson's gravelly, soul-drenched vocals to perfection. Their debut EP, Breathe, was released in 2020, earning plaudits for its take on modern soul, while also earning the group a deal with Hillside Global. Work started on their debut album with producer Ryan Lipman and after a handful of singles, Gamble My Soul, was issued in late 2022.
