Natalie Stovall
Although she is a multi-instrumentalist, country singer Natalie Stovall is best known for her violin playing. Raised in Columbia, Tennessee, she first started taking lessons on the instrument when she was four years old, and she was performing professionally by the time she was ten, making her debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage when she was just 12 years old. Definitely a country artist, her high-energy performances draw inspiration from dynamic genre performers like Shania Twain and Garth Brooks, but she grew up listening to classic rock acts, too, all of which factored into the powerful stage shows she presented with her band the Drive (drummer James Bavendam, guitarist Miguel Cancino, bassist and vocalist Zach Morse, and guitarist and vocalist Joel Dormer), which she formed in 2006, releasing a six-song EP, Standing My Ground, with Hat Factory Records in 2010. Stovall and the band kept at a vigorous touring schedule, working some 200 shows a year, and early in 2013 HitShop Records president Skip Bishop caught one of their powerhouse shows in Nashville and signed the group to the label, putting them in a studio with producer Paul Worley to work on a debut full-length album.
