Muscadine Bloodline

Contemporary country duo Muscadine Bloodline combine Southern traditions, touching upon the plainspoken sound of Texas Red Dirt country and kicking up a bit of Southern rock, and sometimes they have the polished songcraft synonymous with the Nashville sound. All of this is evident on their eponymous 2017 debut EP and 2022 full-length, Dispatch to 16th Avenue. They further explored their influences on 2023's Teenage Dixie and the pop-punk covers EP, Teenage Angst. Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, and based in Nashville, Tennessee, Muscadine Bloodline was formed in 2016 by the duo of Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton. Their eponymous EP followed just a year later. The two singer/songwriters grew up in Mobile, but they didn't meet until they were both actively pursuing musical careers as adults. Stanton crossed Muncaster's path when the former was looking for an opening act, and they soon started jamming, then decided to form a band. They headed to Nashville and quickly released three singles in 2016 -- "Southern Boy Cure," "Porch Swing Angel," and "Shut Your Mouth" -- before cutting the Muscadine Bloodline EP with producer Luke Laird. The EP appeared early in 2017. The following year saw the release of second EP Movin' On, which featured the hit single of the same name. Muscadine Bloodline busied themselves with a series of digital singles -- "Enemy," "Montgomery," "Girl from Mississippi," "Put Me in My Place," "Miss That Truck," "Damn I Need a Dirt Road," and "Mind of Its Own" -- in 2019, re-recording many of them for an Acoustic Sessions, Vol. 1 EP at the end of the year. The duo rang in 2020 with the Boys EP, and then the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The band decided to use their downtime productively, releasing acoustic versions of songs from Boys, then a pair of EPs called Quarantine Work-Tapes. The EP Turn Back Time followed in the summer of 2020. The fiery cut "Dyin' for a Livin'" appeared in 2021, with a second single, "No, Pedal Steel," arriving in early 2022. Both tracks appeared on the full-length Dispatch to 16th Avenue, which was released later that February. The group kicked off 2023 with the full-length Teenage Dixie, which arrived in February and hit the Top 20 of the Top Heatseekers chart. A companion EP, Teenage Angst, followed that June, and featured covers of songs by blink-182, Yellowcard, Jimmy Eat World, and more. That November, they previewed their fourth full-length with the songs "Weyerhaeuser Land" and "Low Hangin' Fruit."
