Gordo

After catching attention as a live DJ under the name Carnage from 2012 to 2021, producer Gordo was noticed behind the boards as a producer on Drake's albums Honestly, Nevermind (2022) and For All the Dogs (2023). Diamanté Blackmon was born in Nicaragua and raised in Frederick, Maryland. As a teenager, he began performing as a DJ at local clubs, eventually adopting the stage name Carnage. In 2015, he signed to Ultra Records, issuing the trap-inspired Papi Gordo; it topped Billboard’s dance albums, independent, and Heatseekers charts and featured collaborations with Migos, Rick Ross, Lil Uzi Vert, and ILoveMakonnen, whose team-up “I Like Tuh” was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Young Martha, a collaborative EP with Young Thug, followed in 2017, with the full-length Battered Bruised & Bloody a year later. After years performing as Carnage (he placed on DJ Mag’s annual list of Top 100 DJs in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2021), he took on the alias Gordo in 2022, gradually shifting his style to reflect a growing interest in house and techno. That same year, he began a fruitful collaboration with Drake, producing “Sticky” and “Massive,” the lead singles off the Canadian rapper’s Honestly, Nevermind. He also built beats for “Gently” and “Rich Baby Daddy” off Drake's 2023 album For All the Dogs.
