Ella

Malaysian rock singer and actress Ella was born Nor Zila binti Aminuddin on July 31, 1966, in Gelugor, Penang. She was raised in Klang Valley in the Greater Kuala Lumpur Area and started performing at a very young age, making her official debut with the band Moonracker in 1983. A few years later, she joined forces with the local band The Boys to form the group Ella & The Boys, which recorded four albums between 1985 and 1987. Following her departure from the band, Ella embarked on a highly successful career that began with the platinum-selling album Pengemis Cinta (1988) and continued throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s through a solid string of releases such as Puteri Kota (1990), Mendung Tak Bererti Hujan (1991), and 30110 (1992). In 1994, she traveled to the United States to record her fifth album Ella USA, which became the best-selling album by a female artist in Malaysia after selling 300,000 copies. Four years later, she was chosen to sing "Standing In The Eyes Of The World," the theme song of the 1998 Commonwealth Games held in Kuala Lumpur. Over the next few years, Ella cemented her status as the "Malaysian Queen of Rock" on albums such as Diva Metal (2000), Ilham Bicara (2001), Simbiosis (2003), and Rama Rama (2007) while also appearing in several films and TV shows. Released in 2016, the compilation Nada Pesona featured the singer's biggest hits, including "Risau," "Sembilu," and "Gemilang," and was followed by the studio album Peace.Love.Rindu a year later.
