Ceramic Animal

A Pennsylvania rock & roll outfit led by a trio of brothers, Ceramic Animal forged a unique and staunchly independent identity in the latter half of the 2010s. Based in the small borough of Doylestown, north of Philadelphia, the group created a hybrid of psych-rock, glam, retro '70s-inspired pop, and punk among other things and found national success with their second album, 2018's The Horse. After building a widespread audience through three self-released and self-produced albums, Ceramic Animal signed with Easy Eye Sound and worked with label founder Dan Auerbach to release 2022's Sweet Unknown. Brothers Chris (vocals, guitar), Elliott (vocals, keyboards), and Erik Regan (drums) teamed up with fellow Doylestown friends Anthony Marchione (guitar) and Dallas Hosey (vocals, bass) in 2013, cutting their teeth on classic rock covers before building up a bank of their own original material. As their reputation for high-quality and stylistically varied rock & roll developed, they paired it with strong visuals (performing in matching suits) and a fierce stage presence. After introducing themselves with 2016's The Cart, Ceramic Animal chose to stay in their small hometown rather than relocate to a bigger East Coast city and seek a label deal. Using Doylestown as a hub for touring, they again self-produced their second album, 2018's The Horse, which saw them expanding both sonically and in popularity. Trips to the West Coast and a solid streaming presence helped the band earn an even bigger audience for 2020's High End. Having attained significant success as a D.I.Y. act, the group finally made the jump to a suitable label, working with the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach to produce their fourth album. Sweet Unknown was released in early 2022 via Easy Eye.
