Vanusa

Vanusa was one of the biggest idols of the Jovem Guarda movement, having constituted a solo career with over 20 albums recorded. She started to sing professionally at age 16 in a local dance band in Minas Gerais, and with the boom of the Jovem Guarda movement, her voice and looks made her an ideal opponent for Wanderléa. Vanusa moved to São Paulo and was featured in the TV Excelsior show O Bom. Her first hit was "Pra Nunca Mais Chorar" (Carlos Imperial/Eduardo Araújo). She worked in several TV shows, having her biggest hit still in the '70s, "Manhãs de Setembro" (Vanusa/Mário Campana), also having success with "Paralelas" (Belchior, 1977). Vanusa also had noted participation in international festivals like the Piriapolis Festival (Uruguay, 1974, Feminine Revelation), Seoul Festival (South Korea, 1980, third place with "Mágica Loucura" by Vanusa/Augusto César Vanucci), and Golden Star Festival (Viña del Mar, Chile, 1991, fifth place with "Quando o Amor Termina" by Vanusa/Sérgio Augusto). In 1997, her show Ninguém É Loura por Acaso opened in São Paulo.
