Reverso

International chamber ensemble Reverso is a sophisticated trio whose music combines jazz and classical influences. They have explored the music of French composers like Maurice Ravel (2018's Suite Ravel), Gabriel Fauré (2022's Harmonic Alchemy), and Lili Boulanger (2024's Shooting Star - Étoile Filante). Formed around 2014 in Paris, France, Reverso was founded by Brooklyn-based trombonist Ryan Keberle with German-born pianist Frank Woeste and French cellist Vincent Courtois. Prior to launching the group, Keberle garnered acclaim for his work with Maria Schneider's orchestra and his own pianoless quartet Catharsis. Along with Reverso, he also performs with his Brazilian ensemble Collectiv Do Brasil. The group debuted in 2018 with Suite Ravel, which featured contributions by drummer Jeff Ballard and found them drawing inspiration from the music of composer Maurice Ravel. A second Reverso album, Melodic Line, appeared in 2020 and was followed a year later by Live, a concert album recorded at Le Triton in Paris. In 2022, Reverso returned with Harmonic Alchemy, an exploration of the music of Gabriel Fauré. French composer Lili Boulanger was the subject of Reverso's fifth album, 2024's Shooting Star - Étoile Filante.
