Voici l’album qui établit Kool & the Gang en tant que groupe de notoriété publique. Certes pas autant que lorsqu’ils intégreront le chanteur James « JT » Taylor et deviendront cette machine à faire des tubes en continu des années 80. Mais déjà un grand pas de franchi vers la route médiatique pour un groupe davantage connu pour son incroyable feeling avec les instruments que pour leurs capacités vocales.
Il est évident qu’il est quasiment impossible d’échapper à la tempête de rythmes tels que ceux contenus dans « Funky Stuff », « Jungle Boogie » ou encore « Hollywood Swinging ». Pour ceux qui n’étaient pas vraiment convaincus (même si c’est difficilement imaginable), le groupe offre un « More Funky Stuff ». Et pour les mêmes ou les autres qui souhaitent reprendre leurs esprits, il y a « Heaven at Once », superbe discours de Kool à son jeune frère. Vraiment aucune excuse pour ne pas se le procurer.

Voici l’album qui établit Kool & the Gang en tant que groupe de notoriété publique. Certes pas autant que lorsqu’ils intégreront le chanteur James « JT » Taylor et deviendront cette machine à faire des tubes en continu des années 80. Mais déjà un grand pas de franchi vers la route médiatique pour un groupe davantage connu pour son incroyable feeling avec les instruments que pour leurs capacités vocales.
Il est évident qu’il est quasiment impossible d’échapper à la tempête de rythmes tels que ceux contenus dans « Funky Stuff », « Jungle Boogie » ou encore « Hollywood Swinging ».
