Chicago rapper G Herbo offers a sequel to his 2016 mixtape Strictly 4 My Fans with the dark, angry, and often unrelenting 2023 release Strictly 4 My Fans II. Instead of the heavy emotional expressions or reflections on mental health issues that made up some of his most acclaimed albums, G Herbo uses the majority of Strictly 4 My Fans II as a vehicle for aggression and intensity. Songs like "Fuck Opps," "We Don't Care," "Watch Me Ball, Pt. 2," and others are take-no-prisoners' depictions of annihilating all enemies and running things in the streets. The 12-track mixtape sticks mostly to heavy drill or doomy trap instrumentals, but there's a celebratory undercurrent to standout song "Outside," which features guest spots from GloRilla and Mello Buckzz. Though most of Strictly 4 My Fans II is a bumpy, violent ride, G Herbo includes a few sentimental moments. He sounds almost tender on "Letter to My Lover," which is one-part devotional and one-part story of struggle, while "Any Other Way" leans on melancholic piano loops and distant vocal samples to give its harsh storytelling a bleakly nostalgic feel.
