Ecouter un énième album d’IAM même lorsque ses membres sont désormais presque tous quinquagénaires, c’est l’assurance de déguster du hip-hop de puriste où règnent la rime riche et engagée, le samples 5 étoiles, le flow de velours, le scratche et l’âme résolument funky. Cinq secondes après avoir lancé Rêvolution, on entend résonner le It’s been a long time scandé 30 ans plus tôt par Rakim sur I Know You Got Soul. Et oui, certains ont des valeurs… Ou comme le revendique IAM, « nous sommes des orthodoxes du hip hop ». Ainsi (et malgré son titre), ce huitième album ne révolutionne donc pas la recette que cuisine IAM depuis bientôt trente ans. Avec l’âge, Akhenaton et Shurik'n sont encore plus bavards qu’à l’accoutumée et peaufinent leurs revendications avec toujours autant de finesse et de précision. Quelques featurings (Lino, Tyler Woods, Nuttea, Saïd et la Québécoise Meryem Saci) viennent enrichir le casting d’un disque certes sans grandes surprises mais dont la réalisation (impeccable) et l’intégrité (sans faille) garantissent l’intérêt. © CM/Qobuz
