Quatorzième opus de Mary J. Blige, Good Morning Gorgeous enregistre les participations de Anderson .Paak, Dave East, DJ Khaled, Fivio Foreign et Usher. Avec ce nouveau disque, la chanteuse new-yorkaise rêve d’une renaissance. Il bénéficie en tout cas d’une rampe de lancement idéale, deux jours avant sa sortie officielle, avec la participation de la chanteuse au show de la mi-temps du Superbowl américain, suivi par quelques 100 millions de personnes. Après avoir affirmé sa capacité à surmonter son divorce dans Strength of a Woman (2017), Mary J. Blige poursuit dans cette veine sur la chanson-titre, un hymne à l'amour de soi. De belles réussites ponctuent Good Morning Gorgeous, comme le RnB soyeux de « Need Love », avec Usher, ou l’envoûtant « Come See about Me » qui bénéficie de sa voix sexy. D’autres titres sont plus convenus, tels « Amazing » avec DJ Khaled ou « On Top » avec Fivio Foreign, mais cela ne gâche heureusement pas les retrouvailles avec la diva du RnB/hip-hop.
