Sur son second album -- huit ans après la sortie plébiscitée de Into the Sun -- Sean Lennon démontre qu'il possède un certain talent pour les airs remarquables et les arrangements variés qui créent un nombre surprenant de montées en puissance malgré la douceur midtempo générale. Les ambiances passent délicatement du morceau posé porté par des synthétiseurs "Parachute" (qui fait écho à Radiohead) au folk-rock dépenaillé de "Headlights", avec sa superbe progression de cordes décalée, à l'envoûtant "Spectacle", qui utilise de façon incroyablement subtile une section de cordes et un orgue Hammond. Pendant les huit années qui ont séparé les deux albums, la voix de Sean Lennon a mûri pour devenir un instrument expressif capable de travailler des airs de crooner nuancé comme des ballades piano-pop plus conventionnelles. Sa composition a elle aussi fait un bon en avant en termes de sophistication, comme le démontre "Friendly Fire", une mélodie fascinante qui monte petit à petit pour ensuite céder la place à un refrain puissant.
