Sting e Shaggy: un duo che in fondo non stupisce più di tanto. Già nel 1979, infatti, il leader dei Police pubblicava Reggatta de Blanc, un secondo album influenzato dai suoni giamaicani che irroravano l’ondata punk-reggae riversata dai britannici Clash, PIL, Ruts, Madness, oltre che da Bob Marley in persona. Da sempre affascinato dai ritmi caraibici, Gordon Sumner non se n’è mai realmente allontanato. Tant’è che quando il suo manager Martin Kierszenbaum gli fa ascoltare l’ultimo successo dancehall di Shaggy (col quale collabora), il bassista parte dalla sua casa di Malibù per cantarvi sopra. Tra il giamaicano e l’ex Police l’intesa è alle stelle: quel brano diventerà il singolo Don't Make Me Wait e, sei mesi dopo, ecco pronto l’album 44/876.
