Amaia Romero

Amaia Romero Arbizu (January 3 1999) is known on stage by just her first name Amaia. She was born into a musical family in Spain. Her uncle is a choir director and her aunt is a singing teacher. Amaia studied classical piano at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra. She started entering singing competitions at an early age, including Cántame una Canción (2010) and El Número Uno (2012). In 2016, she was vocalist on the single “Cicatrices de Mi Realidad” with the Navarrese band Lemon Y Tal. In 2017, Amaia won series nine of Operación Triunfo and several of her singles from the show were released, notably “Shake It Out,” which reached Number 15 on the Spanish Singles Chart. As a result of winning the show, Amaia went on to represent Spain in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, singing “Tu Canción” with Alfred Garcia. This reached Number 3 on the Spanish Singles Chart. Also in 2018, the singles “Al Cantor” and “Perdona (Ahora Sí Que Sí)” with rock band Carolina Durante were released from the Eurovision selection show. Amaia's first solo single “Un Nuevo Lugar” (2018) was popular on music streaming services with over 3 million streams, and her second single “El Relámpago” (2019) was streamed over a million times in the first two weeks of release. Both tracks were included in her 2019 studio debut Pero No Pasa Nada, which shot straight to the top of the PROMUSICAE Albums Chart. After issuing the non-album single “Cosas Interesantes Para Decir” in 2020, Amaia returned in 2021 with the single “Yo Invito,” produced by Alizzz.
