Lola Índigo

Lola Indigo is a singer, dancer, and choreographer from Spain. She spent her early career as a professional dancer. Her first single, "Ya No Quiero Ná," appeared in 2018 and registered more than 70 million streams. Her debut album, 2019's Akelarre, boasted collaborations with Mala Rodriguez and Lalo Ebratt. 2020's "Santeria," with Danna Paola and Denise Rosenthal, went Top Ten. 2021's chart-topping La Niña boasted the hit singles "4 Besos" featuring Rauw Alejandro and Ebratt, and "La Niña de la Escuela." Indigo reissued an expanded edition of the set internationally as La Niña XXL. Indigo was born Miriam Doblas Muñoz in 1992 in Madrid. She was raised in Huétor-Tajar, a small town in the Andalusian province of Granada. She began studying dance seriously before she was an adolescent. Becoming adept, she worked as a dance teacher and took part in some musicals. In 2010 she entered the Spanish dance television competition Fama Revolution and placed fourth. She then traveled to Los Angeles, where she worked as both dancer and choreographer. Returning to Spain, she worked in that capacity behind Miguel Bosé, Enrique Iglesias, and Marta Sánchez, among others. She accepted a gig in China where she spent three years. In July 2017 she auditioned for Operación Triunfo 2017, a televised music talent contest and media phenomenon in Spain. She didn't win; in fact, she was the first contestant eliminated from the competition, placing 16th overall. The event did offer her a measure of fame, however, and she performed a few concerts in Barcelona, Madrid, and Granada. All of those dates were completely sold out. In 2018, Universal Music offered Muñoz a contract to form a musical group with three other OT competitors that was going to be named "Delta." She attended initial rehearsals but ultimately declined the label's invitation. Doblas played a 23-date arena concert tour with her 15 talent show companions from March to December 2018. In June, she announced her new stage name "Lola Índigo," while performing in a group with four other singer/dancers of renown in Spain. They would mix singing and dancing into trap, reggaeton, and funk jams. In July, Indigo, who had secured her own solo deal with Universal, released her debut single, "Ya No Quiero Ná." Produced by Bruno Valverde in Segovia, the track became an instant hit in Spain thanks to its contagious rhythm and feminist lyrics. It ultimately went to number three on the Spanish charts and was streamed tens of millions of times. The single was officially certified triple-platinum. She followed it almost immediately with a remix featuring Joey Montana and Charly Black, and during the same month guested on a remix of "Borracha," alongside Yera, Juan Magan, and De la Ghetto. In November she embarked on her first solo tour which comprised 17 headlining concerts. In December she issued second single, "Mujer Bruja," featuring Marta Sanchez as a collaborator. It peaked at six in Spain. Convinced by the success of those two singles, Universal offered Indigo an album contract. In early 2019 she collaborated with the dance television competition Fama a Bailar and sang and recorded its theme song "Fuerte" for the 2019 edition of the show, and she also served as a coach. She also recorded "El Humo," the theme song from the film Lo Dejo Cuando Quiera. Akelarre, her debut studio album, was released in May 2019 and included all three singles. It entered the charts at number one, ultimately spending more than six months there. Fourth single "Maldición" featured Colombian rapper Lalo Ebratt. Indigo played 33 concerts in support. In June she joined Aitana on the single "Me Quedo." At the end of July, she released the non-album single "Lola Bunny" featuring boyfriend Don Patricio. It went to number four. Two months later she collaborated with Cupido on the remix of "Autoestima." In December she released the non-album single "Luna. Given the COVID-19 pandemic's enforced quarantines, Indigo was unable to play concerts in support of Akelarre. Instead, she delivered the single "4 Besos" in collaboration with Rauw Alejandro and Charly Black." It reached number seven in Spain and was certified double platinum. She also repaid Sanchez by appearing on the track "Problemas" from her sixth album. In June, she released the single "Mala Cara," performing it as the closing theme of Operacion Triunfo 2020. The following month she worked with Spanish urbano singer Rvfv on "Trendy," whose video went viral on social media, propelling it to the charts. In August, Indigo's "Santeria," in collaboration with iconic Mexican and Chilean singers Danna Paola and Denise Rosenthal, appeared online. It peaked at 15 in Spain and was a Top 20 hit in Chile. In September, Indigo hit Argentina's Hot 100 after releasing "High (Remix)" alongside Argentine singers María Becerra and Tini. The track was named "Best Latin Summer Remix of 2020" by Billboard and scored a Premios Gardel nomination for Best Trap/Urban Song or Album. Throughout 2021, Indigo kept up a steady stream of single releases including "Calle" featuring Puerto Rican rappers Guaynaa and Cauty, and the solo release "Spice Girls." She also appeared on Rosenthal's "Demente." In July 2020, she released "La Niña de la Escuela" featuring Tini and pop singer Belinda. The track was created using Zoom during the pandemic; it peaked at number three and charted in a dozen countries. It also served as the album opener for her second studio album La Niña, also released that month. The long-player entered the Spanish charts at number one. In September she issued "Romeo y Julieta" in collaboration with Rvfv, and immediately after collaborated with Spanish singer/rapper Beret on the gold-certified "Cómo Te Va?" After issuing several singles including "Solteras" and "Toy Story," an expanded edition of Akelarre appeared. In June, she issued the electronic-dance pop single "An1mal" and in September, "Discoteka" featuring Maria Becerra. In December, an expanded edition of La Niña was issued as La Niña XXL. It added three bonus cuts including "Spinelli" from the Amazon Original series La Niña.
