Ari Abdul

Ari Abdul's dark, seductive take on electro-pop/rock is well-suited for big dance floors and small basements. She broke through with her first EP, 2022's Fallen Angel, which featured the viral hit "BABYDOLL." She followed up with the sophomore EP CCTV in 2023, a year which also saw collaborations with alternative acts Two Feet and Deadbeat Girl. Growing up in Brooklyn, Abdul's tastes were informed by her Ecuadorian mother's collection of Latin albums and her Costa Rican father's preference for classic rock. She started playing the guitar at a young age, switched to electric at age 14, and was heavily drawn to grunge and punk rock as a guitarist and a concertgoer. She didn't try making her own music until mid-2021, at age 19, with encouragement from her mom, and quickly established a beat-heavy, noir-shaded pop with a weary yet warm vocal style. With a boost from a modest, already established TikTok following, she went viral, registering tens of millions of streams for her debut single, February 2022's "BABYDOLL," as well as the sped-up version, "BABYDOLL (Speed)," in April. The song led her debut EP, Fallen Angel, when it appeared on RCA that October. After drawing millions more streams with EP tracks such as "Taste" and "Stay," she quickly delivered stand-alone songs including the more rock-oriented "Bored" and the pulsing "You" in early 2023. That August, Abdul collaborated with Deadbeat Girl on the darker "Make Me Cry," and in October 2023, she delivered her second EP for RCA, CCTV. Two months later, Abdul was featured on the Two Feet single "KILL ANYONE."
