Il grande pubblico ha avuto possibilità di conoscerla con l'album WomanChild, pubblicato nel 2013 da Mack Avenue Records. Tutti hanno capito subito che la giovane donna non era uno dei tanti cloni di Billie, Ella o Sarah, ma una musicista dalla voce singolare che aveva la capacità di giostrare i classici portando al contempo il suo virtuosismo in territori inesplorati. Con For One To Love, pubblicato nel settembre 2015 sempre da Mack Avenue, Cécile McLorin Salvant alza il tiro. Per dimostrare Ghost Song sarebbe diventato un album spartiacque, Cécile McLorin Salvant apre il suo album con un'inaspettata cover di Wuthering Heights di Kate Bush, che inizia completamente a cappella. Il suo nuovo album, Mélusine, presenta una serie di cinque brani originali e la reinterpretazioni di nove canzoni risalenti al XII secolo, cantate in francese, occitano, inglese e creolo haitiano.
