Ursula

Pop-R&B singer and songwriter Ursula Yancy, a native of California, spent her first several years in the industry as a songwriter. Her first major credit came in 2009, when she co-wrote "Somebody," the lead song on Kristinia DeBarge's Exposed. Over the course of the next three years, her profile rose significantly with writing and co-writing credits on songs recorded by Rihanna ("Skin"), Tamar Braxton ("White Candle"), and Sevyn Streeter ("Shattered"), among others. Three songs on J. Holiday's Guilty Conscience, as well as Jennifer Lopez's "A.K.A.," featured her input in 2014. The following year, Yancy released her debut solo single, for which she was credited simply as Ursula. "Down with Me," a collaboration with songwriters and producers Andrew "Pop" Wansel and Warren "Oak" Felder (aka Pop & Oak), arrived that February with a sunny, retro-modern sound that recalled Amerie's work with Rich Harrison.
