Tamika Scott

Singer, songwriter, and occasional actor Tamika Scott started her career in the '90s as a member of the platinum R&B group Xscape. Since the 2000s, she has written and recorded material for multiple Tyler Perry projects, and has released solo material including the Family Affair EP (2019). Born and raised just outside Atlanta in College Park, Scott co-founded Xscape (which also featured her sister LaTocha) while she was in high school. One of the biggest R&B acts of the '90s, their three albums for Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label were certified platinum, driven by a total of five Top Ten pop hits. Following a partial and brief Xscape reunion in 2000s, Scott branched out, co-writing "Step Aside" for Yolanda Adams and contributing as a songwriter and performer to Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls and Why Did I Get Married?, among other pursuits. A short reunion of the original Xscape lineup led to an EP as a trio, Here for It, released in 2018 under the name Xscap3. Shortly thereafter, Scott released a trio of solo singles that culminated in 2019 with Family Affair, a six-track EP produced mostly by long-term collaborator Wirlie Morris.
