Softengine

Formed in the Finnish city of Seinäjoki during 2011, alt-rock five-piece Softengine quickly rose to fame after representing their country in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. Lead singer and main songwriter Topi Larukka invited friends Ossi Mäkelä, Eero Keskinen, Henri Oskár, and Tuomo Alarinta to his grandparents' cottage, where they began writing songs together. After playing shows locally and finding success in various competitions, the outfit recorded a demo and submitted it to the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, the national televised competition to find a Eurovision Song Contest entry. In 2014 their song "Something Better" saw Softengine advance to the final stages of the show, where they went on to win the chance to perform at the Copenhagen-hosted event. During this time they were signed by Sony Music, and after finishing 11th in the competition they released "Something Better" as a single, which charted in the U.K. and Germany and scored number two in their homeland.
