Reina Washio

Reina Washio is a Japanese singer and actress who jumped into the spotlight as a member of the J-Pop groups E-Girls and Flower. Born on January 20, 1994, in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, she dreamed of becoming a singer from a very early age. Inspired by the Japanese boy band Exile, Reina Washio honed her craft at the talent school EXPG and dropped out of high school shortly after to focus on her music career. In 2011, after a successful audition, she became a member of both Flower and E-Girls, two J-pop acts managed by entertainment company LDH. That same year, she made her debut with Flower on the single “Still.” Following the demise of both Flower and E-Girls near the end of the decade, Reina Washio shortened her stage name to Rei and made her solo debut on the soundtrack of the film Shousetsu no Kamisama / The God of Novels (2020) with the songs “Call Me Sick” and “Konna Sekai ni Shita no wa Dare da.” In 2021, her single “Kimitonaraiiyo” peaked at number 36 on KKBox’s Top 50. Just Wanna Sing, her solo debut album, arrived in 2022, reaching number 8 on the Weekly Oricon Albums Chart and number 11 on Billboard Japan's Hot Albums Chart. It was followed a year later by a second LP titled For My Dear, which cracked the Top 10 of both the Oricon and Billboard charts in her native Japan.
