Laurie Jones

A singer/songwriter whose warm, gritty mix of adult alternative, country, folk, and rock shows hints of artists like Tom Petty, Lucinda Williams, and Sheryl Crow, Laurie Jones emerged with After the Crash in the early 2000s. She continued to record and tour with her backing band while releasing albums like a 2007 eponymous LP. In 2016, the collection The Truth About Her represented highlights of her first decade-and-a-half of solo material, with a good portion of that time spent on the road in the Northeast, Maritime Canada, and the U.K. She credited 2017's Bridges to the Laurie Jones Band before stripping her moniker back to Laurie Jones for Dark Horse in 2021. A native of Lubec, Maine, Laurie Jones began performing in regional country bands as a child at the urging of her grandmother, and was playing in her own rock band by her teens. She released the solo album After the Crash in the early days of 2001. A full-band affair informed by blues, rock, and country, it was followed by Better Days in 2003. She and her band toured exhaustively before returning to Portland, Maine to record the 2007 release Laurie Jones. Jones took a long break from recording before assembling the 2016 collection The Truth About Her. It was quickly followed in early 2017 by Bridges, which she credited to the Laurie Jones Band. Recorded in Windham, Maine, her next album, 2021's Dark Horse, was her first with outside producers (Darren Elder and Mehuman Ernst).
