K. Roosevelt

A Los Angeles-rooted R&B artist whose songs are often relaxed and impassioned at once, K. Roosevelt charted with the hot-blooded Hit-Boy collaboration "Do Me Now" (2013) before he made his full-length debut on Interscope with Neon Haze (2016). Following a stint with Def Jam, his second major-label affiliation, Roosevelt has self-released funkier yet more atmospheric projects such as the Bloom EP (2019) and the full-length Solstice (2022). His secondary discography as a collaborator includes tracks headlined by the varied likes of Jhené Aiko, the Game, M.I.A., and Rapsody. The son of renowned blues artist Keb' Mo', the L.A.-born Kevin Roosevelt Moore II started out as a drummer before he took up beatmaking, piano, guitar, and songwriting. He picked up his first major credits across 2011 and 2012, most notably singing hooks on Jhené Aiko's "Real Now" and the Game's "Can't Get Right." RoseGold, his first mixtape as K. Roosevelt, appeared in 2013 and yielded "Do Me Now," which registered on Billboard's Rhythmic Airplay chart. Roosevelt contributed to tracks by M.I.A. and YG the same year. Additional strides over the next few years were made with continued work beside fellow producer Hit-Boy, and his solo deal with major-label Interscope culminated in 2016 with the full-length Neon Haze. Roosevelt retreated behind the scenes for a while, wrote tracks for kindred spirits Guordan Banks and Jesse Boykins III, and in 2018 resurfaced on Def Jam with a self-titled EP rich with heady grooves. He then went independent, issuing Bloom in 2019 and Solstice three years later. Between those two recordings, Roosevelt was heard on Rapsody's "Maya."
