EDDIE F

A factor in the development of hip-hop and R&B from the late '80s onward, Eddie F. is a DJ, songwriter, producer, and label executive whose efforts have been acknowledged with multiple Grammy nominations and numerous gold and platinum certifications. The Mount Vernon native made a name for himself as a member of Heavy D & the Boyz, co-producing the group's hits -- including their debut, "Mr. Big Stuff" (1986), and Grammy-nominated recordings "Now That We Found Love" (1991) and "Nuttin' But Love" (1994), as well as five RIAA-certified gold and platinum albums and their theme for the television series In Living Color. Concurrent with his group's success, Eddie established Untouchables Entertainment and Untouchables Records, outlets for emerging artists, writers, and producers. He also progressed as an A&R executive for Uptown, LaFace, and Motown, and within a decade of activity had played a crucial role in the emergence of producer Dave "Jam" Hall, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Intro, Donell Jones, Mario Winans, and Tony Rich, among many other artists. Mostly behind the scenes throughout his career, Eddie F.'s output as a headlining artist is limited to one full-length project, the guest-filled Untouchables showcase Let's Get It On: The Album (1994), and a handful of co-billed singles, such as "This Is Hip Hop" (2023), a celebratory collaboration with Erick Sermon and Jarren Benton.
