Conchúr White

Based in Northern Ireland, Conchúr White makes glowing, poetic indie pop with folk elements and an ambient tone. After leading the textural rock outfit Silences, the singer/songwriter launched his solo career in 2020 with the critically admired Bikini Crops EP and its 2021 follow-up, Dreamers. The following year, he signed with Bella Union, which released his debut album, Swirling Violets, in early 2024. A native of County Armagh, Conchúr (pronounced "Connor") began his career fronting Silences, an atmospheric indie rock band who enjoyed minor independent success in the mid-2010s. After the group went on hiatus in 2018, White began developing new material on his own, inspired by a range of sources from Arctic Monkeys to Father John Misty. Early solo singles like "Daisies" and "Channing Tatum" saw him moving between eerie low-key indie rock and hushed acoustic folk, with both songs later appearing on his 2020 EP, Bikini Crops. Over the next two years, White picked up critical accolades and touring spots with acts like Villagers, John Grant, and John Cale. Following a second independent EP, 2021's Dreamers, he joined the Bella Union roster and made his label debut with the lush 2023 folk-rock ballad "Atonia." White's full-length debut, Swirling Violets, was released in January 2024.
