Alexander Stewart

Canadian singer Alexander Stewart is known for his sensitive and romantic electronic-tinged pop anthems. He initially went viral for his online cover songs before garnering buzz with his own songs, like 2020's "Backwards" and "Blame's on Me," and the title track to his 2023 EP If You Only Knew. Born in 1999 in Toronto, Stewart grew up in Timmins, Ontario, where he sang in church and was a member of his school choir. He also took piano and guitar lessons. Early on, he was exposed to the music of Shania Twain and the Beatles before discovering Lady Gaga and Sam Smith. It was while still in high school that he started posting cover songs online, including Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man," and a rendition of Camila Cabello's "Havana," the latter of which racked up millions of views. He eventually began writing his own songs and moved to Los Angeles to better pursue his music career. In 2018, Stewart released the song "Enamorado," and he issued the Backwards EP two years later. More singles followed, including "Back to You," "Would You Lie," and "Blame's on Me." A second EP, If You Only Knew, arrived in 2023.
