Sony apre ancora una volta il suo forziere. Dopo The Basement Tapes Raw nel 2014, seguita da The Cutting Edge l’anno successivo, oggi l’etichetta propone una nuova e straordinaria compilation di Dylan: Live 1962-1966- Rare Performances from the Copyright Collections. Prestazioni rare del maestro della folk, attualmente disponibili solo su edizioni molto limitate, sono qui riunite in un doppio disco di 29 tracce.
Questa edizione speciale del tour giapponese è una vera e propria pepita d’oro! Presenta dapprima le registrazioni originariamente non destinate al pubblico, che tra l’altro si succedono alla perfezione. La promessa di un ascolto autentico è mantenuta. Secondo punto forte: il periodo scelto. Quello del Gerde's Folk City nel 1962 dove Dylan fa il suo primo concerto, le sue prestazioni mitiche nel 1963 al municipio di New York e al Carnegie Hall, ma anche il suo duetto con Joan Baez per la Marcia su Washington il 28 agosto del 1963 e le sue tournée mondiali degli anni 1965-1966. Il cantante non si è fermato nel corso di quegli anni di ricerca d’identità musicale. Proponendo una nuova forma della folk stilizzata dei suoi esordi, questo Live 1962-1966- Rare Performances from the Copyright Collections presenta anche il suo primo periodo rock. A partire dal 1964, apre una nuova strada. Su questo secondo CD, la transizione è evidente in particolare con quel live del maggio 1966 al Capitol Theatre a Cardiff dove suona una folk-rock leggendaria: I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met).
