En 2015 Houndmouth daban que hablar con Little Neon Limelight, álbum de sonoridades retro con la vista puesta en el rock de los 50. Pero esta vez el trío, integrado por Matt Myers, Shane Cody y Zak Appleby, regresa con un ejercicio de pop futurista titulado Golden Age. En la cima de su creatividad, mantienen esa faceta vintage que tan buenos resultados les dieran, pero tensando el conjunto con sonidos eléctricos como los que se harán, posiblemente, en el año 2050. Sí, Houndmouth viaja en el tiempo para ofrecernos su particular visión del porvenir de la raza humana, caracterizado, ay, por la más absoluta decadencia (?). En This Party, por ejemplo, la banda nos habla de la necesidad de huir en el futuro de cierta fiesta más parecida a un encarcelamiento que otra cosa, metáfora que sirve a estos jóvenes norteamericanos para criticar la sociedad actual, en donde todos se exhiben y asemejan, siempre bajo la más férrea vigilancia. Y en Golden Age Houndmouth aborda el final de la modernidad, analizándolo también con profundidad en Modern Love, una mirada a las relaciones afectivas y a las inseguridades que la tecnología puede intensificar. En definitiva, que pese a sus looks de jóvenes hipsters indiferentes nuestros tres Houndmouth tienen algo que decir, y parecen haber encontrado el mejor modo musical de hacerlo. © Clara Bismuth/Qobuz
