sub7even

Formed in 1999 by former members of the band Rage, Sub7even was a rock band initially made up of vocalist Daniel Wirtz, guitarists Sven Fischer and Spiros Efthimiadis, keyboardist Christian Wolff, drummer Christos Efthimiadis, and bassist Rob Protzmann. The band, early on, scored a deal with BMG, and with the label released their first album, Sub7even, in 2000. They spent the lion's share of the next year touring and building their support base on German stages, and released the single, "Wicked." In 2002, the band recorded the single "Free Your Mind," a cover of the En Vogue hit, which was notable in that it actually featured En Vogue on the recording. The following album, also named Free Your Mind, was a hit, but also marked the end of the band's relationship with BMG. 2003 would see further shake-ups, as Fischer, Protzmann, and Wolff left the band. Wolff would go on to focus on production work. Lovechansrockets, the next album from the remainder of Sub7even, was released in May of 2006. In 2007, further line-up changes hit the band, as the replacement for bassist Rob Protzmann, Kai Lemke, took leave of the group.
