Sibel Can

Sibel Can (born Sibel Cangüre on 1 August 1970 in Karagümrük, Istanbul) is one of Turkish's best-known pop singers. After starting off her career as a belly dancer aged just 14, she developed a taste for music by accompanying her professional violinist father to concerts around Turkey. She stepped out with her debut album in 1987, Günah Bize, which was produced by Kervan Plak and in 1988 started performing at Maksim Casino as a singer where she worked with Muazzez Abacı, Neşe Karaböcek, Emel Sayın and others. Subsequent albums were produced by Orhan Gencebay and she continued to put out records annually throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, signing a contract with Raks Müzik in 1995 and becoming one of Turkey's biggest stars. By 2000, she was at the top of her game, releasing her 12th studio album İşte Türk Sanat Müziği that year and later cast in a leading role in the 2002 movie Papatya ile Karabiber. Her 2006 album Özledin mi? was certified diamond by Turkey's Mü-Yap and she spent the 2010s racking up hit albums like 2016's Arabesque, which led her to win the Best Arabesque-Fantasy Music Artist at the Golden Butterfly Awards. She released her 22nd album, Yeni Aşkım, in 2018 via DMC and her 23rd LP in 2020, Hayat. 2022 saw the release of new single "Bize Kaldı."
