Sarah Reeves
Nashville's Sarah Reeves is known for her heartfelt anthems that balance a robust pop production with an intimate, singer/songwriter lyricism. She initially broke through in the late 2000s with her EP Sweet Sweet Sound, a faith-oriented album that hit the Top 20 of Billboard's Christian Albums Chart and paved the way for her 2011 full-length, Broken Things. Additional independent releases followed before Reeves signed a deal with Curb for 2018's Easy Never Needed You, a collection of bright dance-oriented pop. Along with collaborations with producers like Gattüso, Laidback Luke, and Armin Van Buuren, she further expanded her dance approach with 2020's Life Love & Madness and 2023's Best Days, the latter of which featured the empowered single "Get Back Your Fight."
Born in Athens, Alabama, Reeves grew up in a musical household; her father, John Mark "Hershey" Reeves, was a musician, songwriter, engineer, and producer who had been working in music since the late '70s, and her younger sister, Mary Reeves, is a member of the group Only in Stories. Reeves became passionate about music while in her teens, playing in her church's worship band and honing her skills as a singer, songwriter, and keyboard player. As Reeves became more experienced and confident as a performer, she began performing as a solo artist, and after opening a show for the alternative Christian group Plumb, the group's lead singer, Tiffany Lee (aka Tiffany Arbuckle), was impressed with Reeves' set. Lee introduced Reeves to the staff at the powerful Christian music label Sparrow Records, and in 2008 Sarah struck a deal with the label. In 2009, Reeves released a seven-song EP, Sweet Sweet Sound; the three-song EP God of the Impossible followed in 2010.
In 2011, Reeves broke ties with Sparrow and independently released her first full-length album, Broken Things. Christmas, an EP that featured new recordings of five beloved songs of the season, arrived in 2013, and the following year she released her second full-length album, Acoustic Worship Covers, Vol. 1. Despite having two releases of covers in her discography, Reeves continued to write songs, and her work was being recorded by artists such as Jesus Culture and Natalie Grant.
Reeves eventually signed a new recording deal with Word Records, and in early 2018 she issued her first single for the label, "Feel the Waters" ahead of the release of the Easy Never Needed You LP, which arrived later that year. She continued to delve deeper into dance music, collaborating with RUSLAN, Justice Skolnik, Gattüso, and Laidback Luke.
In 2019, she kicked off another album cycle with the single "Anxious," which landed on 2020's Life Love & Madness, a collection of ebullient dance pop anthems. Her first collection of holiday-themed songs, More the Merrier, arrived the following year, as did the non-album single "Tell Me Why" with Armin van Buuren. The uplifting single "Get Back Your Fight" appeared in March 2023 and went viral ahead of the release of her full-length, Best Days. Her most robust, pop-oriented production to date, the album found her exploring a range of themes from heartbreak and jealousy to romance and feel-good dance tracks.
