Mass Gothic

Mass Gothic is a New York City-based indie rock band led by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Noel Heroux, formerly of Hooray for Earth, which disbanded in 2014. Sub Pop snatched up the new project in 2015, and they made their live debut at a Sub Pop/Hardly Art CMJ showcase headlined by Protomartyr that October. The fuzzy, despondent first single, "Nice Night," appeared soon after. With Heroux describing the project as a fresh start, he wrote and recorded the eponymous debut LP alone at home. Pinballing between lo-fi, synth pop, and sweeping, guitar-based wistfulness, Mass Gothic arrived in February 2016. Two years later, the band returned with I've Tortured You Long Enough. The record continued in a similar vein as its predecessor, but Heroux's wife, Jessica Zambri, took on a larger role this time around, providing many of the lead vocals.
