Jenn Carter

Rapper Jenn Carter pits fierce drill missives against brisk, often eclectic beats. The Brooklyn native began releasing solo music in 2019 before teaming up with TaTa and Kyle Richh to form the rap group 41. She continued to release occasional solo tracks, but it was her collaborative work with Richh and TaTa that helped break her to a wider audience. "See Red" and "Everybody Shot," both released in 2022, became breakout streaming hits and Carter continued to build on this success the following year with high-profile tracks like "Strangers" and "Bent." Born Jennifer Akpofure, Carter initially pursued a more R&B-oriented sound before turning to the intensity of drill. Tracks like 2021's "41 Reasons" and "444" introduced her confident, punchy style, which she continued to develop over the next year as part of 41. The group made waves with 2022 tracks like "41 Bop" and "See Red" and Carter stepped back out on her own for the nimble "Lights Freestyle." 2023 brought even more attention for the trio with breakout hits like "Fetty," "Bent," and "Strangers." Carter ended the year with the two-way Dee Billz collaboration "Thooties."
