Jaycob Duque
This Colombian reggaetón star initially found fame in the mid-2010s with releases on the Forward Latin label -- such as his 2015 album Boy Toy -- before moving to Warner Music Mexico in late 2018. In the period that followed, the rapper and singer's output included numerous Warner-backed solo singles, alongside a plethora of collaborative tracks, Duque seemingly having carte blanche to appear on the numerous imprints of his co-stars.
Born in 1997, in Pereira, a coffee-producing city in the Andean foothills, Duque was only 16 years old when he recorded his 2014 debut single, "A Fuego Lento," with the established New York artist Arcángel. Forward Latin was early on the scene and issued its follow-up, November's "Me Despido," which made more waves. 2015 saw the label issue a further four singles -- including the slick "Carita Bonita," a collaboration with his Puerto Rican contemporary Kelmitt -- in order to promote Boy Toy. The following year was comparatively quieter, although it did bring the summery singles "No me Hablen Más de Amor" and "Más Calor." 2017 was notably busier, a highlight being the party-flavored "Pégate y Bailemos," which went on to rack up millions of streams. Further solo singles ensued before he bowed out on Forward with a successful cut entitled "Parezco un Loco" alongside popular reggaetón duo Jowell & Randy.
Duque's Warner tenure began on a high note with "Mambo," a joint release with the award-winning Childsplay and Chuckie, and that was followed by a prestigious guest spot on Miss Tara's November 2018 theme to the John Travolta film Speed Kills. 2019's solo singles included "Honey" and "Poco Tela," while equal billing on tracks with the likes of Mosta Man, Agalma, and Mik Mish ensured that Duque's profile remained high. This collaborative trend continued into 2020, leading to "Pa Ponertelo," a September single release with emerging artist Benny Veneno.
