Hermanos Yaipén

Hermanos Yaipén, aka Hnos. Yaipén, are a Peruvian orchestra formed by brothers Walter and Javier Yaipén in 2000. The ever-changing line-up has seen more than 200 artists pass through its ranks, specialising in a form of Cumbia music, called Chicha in Peru, that originated in Colombia and fuses indigenous, African and European rhythms and forms.

Hnos. Yaipén, in its changing forms, does not have a huge back catalogue of work, with only six albums and two compilation albums. However, in 2019 the band signed for Sony Music and this has made their music more available outside of their native region. This began with the global digital release of their 'Pecado' album.
