F-IV

F-iV is a South Korean boy band consisting of four members: Seo Ji-won, Chang Hae-young, Woo Jung-tae, and Kim Hyun-soo. They were initially assembled in 1999 by their record label, inspired by the growing popularity of R&B music from groups like Fly to the Sky and Brown Eyes. The members were chosen for their musical talents, particularly in composition and arrangement, and spent three years training before making their official debut. On September 25, 2002, F-iV released their debut album, F-iV [Faiv], under CS Entertainment. However, shortly after their debut, they faced label issues which saw them relocate to a new label called Waltz Music. They re-released their debut album with a new cover and an adjusted track list, with Kim Hyun-soo responsible for producing five of the album's eleven tracks. One of these tracks, "Girl," garnered critical acclaim and earned them a nomination for Best New Group at the 2003 Mnet Asian Music Awards and the group was also honoured as one of the Best New Artists of 2003 at KMTV's Korean Music Awards. Following their successful debut, F-iV released their second album, F-iV Story, on March 30, 2004. Unlike their first album, which featured Kim Hyun-soo's contributions, F-iV Story was entirely written and composed by professional songwriters and composers, and spawned several successful songs including"I'm Sorry," "Shadow Dance" and "Merry Christmas." After a seven-year hiatus, the members of F-iV reunited to record an EP titled Thank You on February 6, 2012. This release came a decade after their 2002 debut album, F-iV [Faiv], and served as a commemoration of their tenth anniversary as a group.
