Brandon Banks
Brandon Banks' take on contemporary R&B has seen the American vocalist break through with tracks such as 2018's "Autumn" and 2020's "SELF" racking up huge streaming figures. His debut album, 2022's Natural Progressions, continued to expand his sound palette, combining elements of pop, hip-hop, and alternative R&B.
Born and raised in Inglewood, California, Banks grew up with a penchant for poetry and songwriting while surrounding himself by R&B, funk, and hip-hop. He started to write his own music and taught himself how to play guitar; inspired by alternative R&B, he opted for a more experimental approach to his songwriting. Banks debuted in 2018 with the single "Autumn," and the track quickly found an audience. Following the release of a handful more tracks, he issued his first EP, Tides, that same year. Over the next couple of years -- alongside a successful modeling career -- Banks continued to record and release music while focusing on writing his debut album. In anticipation of that LP, the tracks "Get On," "Tryin," and "Wonderland" appeared in early 2022. Natural Progressions arrived in June and saw Banks continue to expand his sound, taking inspiration from contemporaries James Blake and Frank Ocean.
