Armi Millare

With her warm, deeply lyrical style, vocalist Armi Millare is known for her work with the alt-rock outfit Up Dharma Down and her solo collaborations with Norway's D'Sound. With UDD, she has earned acclaim for albums like 2008's Bipolar and 2019's UDD. Millare has also garnered accolades for her film work, winning best original theme song at the Manila Film Festival Award for "Tao" for 2015's Honor Thy Father. With D'Sound she has released R&B-infused singles like 2018's "Lykkelig" and 2021's "Run for Cover." Born in 1984 in the Philippines, Millare grew up in Manila where she co-founded the genre-bending rock group Up Dharma Down in 2004. They broke through with their 2006 debut album, Fragmented, which garnered them several NU Rock Awards (among them vocalist of the year for Millare). More well-received albums followed, including 2008's Bipolar, 2012's Capacities, and 2019's UDD. Away from the band, Millare has expanded her reach, performing multi-media works as Munro and working on film music under her Stoa Sound production company. In 2015, she took home her first Manila Film Festival Award for best original theme song for "Tao," from the drama Honor Thy Father. She has also collaborated on tracks with the Norwegian neo-soul outfit D'Sound, including 2018's "Lykkelig," 2019s "Somewhere in Between," and 2021's "Run for Cover."
