Aquilo Del Nisso

Formed in 1989 by students of the Communication and Arts school of the State University of São Paulo (ECA/USP), Aquilo Del Nisso was conceived as an instrumental music group with no limiting labels. Playing Astor Piazzola and Guerra Peixe, MPB and jazz, the group experimented several musical facets while not deciding on any. In 1989, they were chosen to participate in the Free Jazz Festival. The good reception for their work encouraged the group to release their first album in 1990, Aquilo Del Nisso. In 1994, their third release, Chico Buarque Instrumental, yielded a nomination for the 1995 Sharp prize in the Best Instrumental Group category. In 1998, they would have another Sharp prize nomination in the same category, this time for their 1997 release Festa Brasileira. Along with their solo performances, Aquilo Del Nisso has also been performing/recording with Dominguinhos, Hermeto Pascoal, Chico César, Carlos Malta, Carlos Fernando, Virgínia Rosa, Duofel, Suzana Salles, and many others.
