Paru en 2016, Shaduwland, nouvel opus du pianiste, auteur-compositeur-interprète flamand Jan Swerts, voit le jour dans la douleur et constitue le fruit d'un travail introspectif au lendemain d'un certain nombre d'écueils apparus dans la vie de son concepteur dans les deux années précédentes. Marqué par la tragédie personnelle donc, Swerts se dépeint comme une sorte de survivant dans un monde post-apocalyptique balayé par la douleur et livre une collection de titres à fleur de peau avec l'appui d'un groupe et d'une section à cordes omniprésente.
