The former singer from Los Elefantes has been a solo artist since 2006, and after two rather tentative outings, he hit third-time lucky with Grietas, easily his most accomplished work to date. Sympathetically produced by the Blind Joes (Love of Lesbian, Supersubmarina), Grietas is a collection of emotive midtempo tracks of vintage singer/songwriter rock, showcasing Shuarma's brutally honest descriptions of inner turmoil, torn between desolation and newfound hope. Among a uniformly strong batch of songs, special honors go to lead single "Llueven Piedras," "Solo," and "Habrá Que Caer."
