Après le succès de son premier album de 2005, Eye to the Telescope, KT Tunstall aurait pu succomber aux tendances sous-jacentes de l'album, ou elle aurait pu poursuivre les inclinations plus éclatantes, plus pop de "Black Horse & the Cherry Tree" et "Suddenly I See". Un rapide coup d'œil à la couverture de son second album de 2007, Drastic Fantastic, où on la voit parée de bottines à talon et d'une énorme guitare électrique argentée, et on voit tout de suite quelle voie elle a choisi. Elle a clairement embrassé la pop, mais sans sacrifier ses talents d'auteur pour autant et l'album, aussi tape à l'œil qu'il soit, est construit sur des chansons mémorables et durables. Drastic Fantastic est une bête rare : un album pop avec un cœur de compositrice, et qui fonctionne sur les deux niveaux.

Chronique

Après le succès de son premier album de 2005, Eye to the Telescope, KT Tunstall aurait pu succomber aux tendances sous-jacentes de l'album, ou elle aurait pu poursuivre les inclinations plus éclatantes, plus pop de "Black Horse & the Cherry Tree" et "Suddenly I See". Un rapide coup d'œil à la couverture de son second album de 2007, Drastic Fantastic, où on la voit parée de bottines à talon et d'une énorme guitare électrique argentée, et on voit tout de suite quelle voie elle a choisi. Elle a clairement embrassé la pop, mais sans sacrifier ses talents d'auteur pour autant et l'album, aussi tape à l'œil qu'il soit, est construit sur des chansons mémorables et durables. Drastic Fantastic est une bête rare : un album pop avec un cœur de compositrice, et qui fonctionne sur les deux niveaux.
