Entre les vignettes soooooo british des Kinks de Ray Davies, le dandysme du Roxy Music des débuts (période For Your Pleasure) et les exubérances d’un Bowie, Pulp apportait sa touche très personnelle à la britpop des 90’s. La bande de Jarvis Cocker osait tous les excès, de la pop disco, 60's, lush, romantique ou carrément espiègle. Croonant comme un Scott Walker décalé ou se transformant en Bob Geldof (période Boomtown Rats) barge, le cerveau de Pulp caresse les mots de sa plume malicieuse et se drape dans des mélodies juste parfaites.
