À propos

Arguably the most famous cellist of the twentieth century alongside Pablo Casals and Jacqueline Du Pré, Mstislav Rostropovitch will forever be associated with the Bach Suites that he played in front of the Berlin Wall when it fell. With its emphasis on Romantic composers and Russian music, his discography leaves us with some invaluable and iconic recordings. His supreme virtuosity on his instrument has somewhat overshadowed his talents as a conductor and pianist, but there are still some precious examples of his work in these disciplines, notably on Deutsche Grammophon. (Re)discover the feeling of this extraordinary artist, through his most iconic recordings on the German label.
