Sam Gellaitry

Scottish DJ and producer Sam Gellaitry crafts forward-thinking, genre-bending electronic music that is as emotionally-evocative and experimental as it is club-ready. Debuting in the 2010s when he was still a teenager, he released his first effort Short Stories in 2015. Multiple EPs followed until 2019, when he issued his first official full-length, Viewfinder, Vol. 1: Phosphene. The sequel VF Vol. II landed in 2022. Born in Stirling, Scotland in the late '90s, Gellaitry first began making music in his teens after his older brother introduced him to a computer-based production application. With his family's blessing, he left school at age 16 to focus on music. By the time he was 18, he had gained enough attention for electronic label and collective Soulection to release his early EP Short Stories. The first installment of his Escapism series arrived in 2015 on XL Recordings. While building his audience with high profile gigs such as Coachella 2017, he continued with two more Escapism installments before releasing his first full-length Viewfinder, Vol. 1: Phosphene in 2019. Two years later, with his exposure rapidly rising, he issued the EP IV, home to the hit track "Duo," the first of his tracks to showcase his vocals. The following year, he released VF Vol. II in the form of a mixtape. The set included a collaboration with PinkPantheress ("Picture In My Mind"). "Assumptions" was issued in 2023, remixed by the likes of Jengi, BURNS, and Kaytranada. He closed the year with another EP, Under the Illusion.
