Nick Mono
Nick Mono's casually melodic songs combine a wide range of influences, from alternative rock to pop to hip-hop, with a late-'90s slacker vibe. After releasing his first EPs, the Londoner garnered attention with his song "Effy Stonem" in 2020, when he was still a teenager. Following the track's success, Mono signed with Parlophone and released another EP, The Sun Won't Stay After Summer (2022).
Nick Mono was born Nick Mannar in West London in 2002. Seeing the Jackson 5 performance of "I Want You Back" on The Ed Sullivan Show as a kid persuaded him to pick up the guitar, finding further inspiration in the music of Justin Bieber. He uploaded a few cover songs when he was just ten (including one of Bieber's "Boyfriend"), and he began releasing music in earnest in 2019 when he presented his first five-track EP, Censor. A two-track EP entitled The Art of Social Distancing appearing in the early days of the pandemic, April 2020. A month later, Mono released the single "Effy Stonem," a catchy, off-the-cuff tribute to a character from the TV series Skins. The song became his breakthrough track, and Mono was quickly signed by Parlophone. More singles followed in 2021 and 2022, including "Rusty," "All That You Do," "Anywhere in the World," and "All the Money," all of which were also featured on his six-track EP The Sun Won't Stay After Summer (2022).
