L’énergie rythmique etnla puissance mélodique de Maxïmo Park avaient vite fait de classernle groupe britannique dans la cour des grands en 2005, dès la sortiende A Certain Trigger. Le groupe emmené par Paul Smith avaitnensuite réitéré son petit exploit critique et public tous les deuxnans, avant qu’aujourd’hui, ce The National Health nenparaisse.n
Si l’on excepte l’introndu disque, le lapidaire et dispensable « When I Was Wild »,nforce est de reconnaître que Maxïmo Park réembraye d’emblée avecnle morceau titre. Vélocité rythmique, harmonies maitrisées à lanperfection et honnêteté artistique suintent à chaque instant. Mêmenconstat sur les morceaux qui suivent. Sur « ThenUndercurrents », Paul Smith fait penser à un PeternKingsbery (Cock Robin) sous vitamines, et cette propension qu’a lengroupe pour la recherche de la mélodie parfaite, du changement dencap entre les couplets et les refrains, est ici intacte.
Avant de déclarer ce ThenNational Health d’utilité publique, on ne fera pas l’impassen(et un peu la fine bouche) en précisant que quelques chansons de cenquatrième opus sont friables. « Take Me Home »nsent le réchauffé et « Banlieue » tentend’emmener l’auditeur ailleurs sans que ce dernier y croit unenseconde. Mais qu’importe : sur treize titres, une grossendizaine vaut plus que le coup.
Comme quoi la bonne réputation dungroupe, que d’aucuns ont pu trouver prématurée, n’était pasnusurpée. The National Health est à l’image des précédentsnopus du groupe : frais, mélodiquement évident, rythmiquementnenlevé et très plaisant.
